Abstract

This research examines the implementation of inclusive education in Indonesia, focusing on a case study at SD Inpres 12/79 Macanang, South Sulawesi. Using a qualitative method, this study explores the challenges and efforts in implementing inclusive education at the primary school level. The main findings indicate that despite a commitment to accept and serve students with special needs, schools still face obstacles such as limited trained human resources, inadequate infrastructure, and lack of public understanding. Positive efforts are evident through teacher training, the formation of learning communities, and plans for facility improvements. Positive impacts are reflected in increased participation of students with special needs and parental satisfaction. This research highlights the importance of continuous evaluation, professional development of teachers, and stronger policy support to realize quality and sustainable inclusive education in Indonesia. In conclusion, although there is progress, significant efforts are still needed in developing adaptive curricula, improving teacher competencies, providing adequate facilities, and collaboration between schools, families, and communities to optimize the implementation of inclusive education.
